Columbia Water Center

The Story of Water in India - In 1965, the arrival of a new way to grow food appeared to put an end to a long history of recurrent famine in the India. Known as the Green Revolution, this new approach included the introduction of improved seed varieties, extensive use of fertilizers and--perhaps most importantly--a dramatic increase in crop irrigation.
