According to Indian architect Alok Shetty, the goal of good architecture can be expressed in six words: “To solve problems. To add value.”
That is what Shetty, GSAPP ’11, aims to do with a series of portable, flood-proof houses he is designing for the slums of his native Bangalore, India—a project that won him recognition from Time magazine as a “leader of tomorrow.”
